摘要:

This paper investigates the impact of air pollution on brain drain by exploring the relationship between PM2.5 and job location decisions of college graduates at the beginning of their professional careers in China. The results indicate that a 10% increase in PM2.5 raises the probability of working in cities other than where their colleges locate by 7%. We also find larger impacts for elite colleges students and non-local students. This paper contributes to the literature by shedding light the cost of air pollution from losing talented professionals.
