主讲题目：Urbanization, Migration and Crime（关于城市化、人口流动与犯罪率的实证研究）
摘 要：This paper empirically investigates the casual relationship between migration (as measured by migrant share) and crime rate by using a balanced panel data of 181 cities between 2000 and 2010. To deal with the potential endogeneity of the current migrant share variable, we adopt the fixed effect-instrumental variable approach to estimate the causal effect of migration on crime rate, where the projected migrant share and lagged per capital doctors are used as the instrumental variables. The estimation results show that the increase in migrant share helps to reduce the city crime rate when the potential endogeneity is controlled for. A further mechanism analyses reveal that the improvement in the labor market conditions due to the migrant inflows decreases the probabilities of both local natives and migrants to engage in criminal behaviors.
报告人简介：张海峰博士现为浙江大学经济学院副教授，兼任劳动经济学系副主任，先后入选浙江大学求是青年学者、浙江省之江青年社科行动计划、浙江省151人才工程第三层次。近年来主持国家自然科学基金、国家社会科学基金、教育部人文社科基金、浙江省自然科学基金、浙江省社科规划项目等课题10余项，研究成果发表于《Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization》《Journal of Comparative Economics》《China Economic Review》《经济研究》《管理世界》等权威期刊和SSCI期刊，研究成果获教育部高等学校科学研究（人文社会科学）优秀成果奖、浙江省哲学社会科学优秀成果奖等奖励。
