The Postgraduate National Statistical Modeling Competition is a statistical application activity  for postgraduates in colleges and universities in China. It aims to motivate students to learn statistics  and applied statistics, use statistical methods to solve practical problems, and improve their ability  to collect, sort, and analyze data. The theme this year is “Statistical Measurement of the Economic  and Social Impact of Major Emergencies.” The competition includes the stages of qualification  review, anonymous paper review, face-to-face evaluation by experts, and field report.

The School of Statistics of the SEM shouldered the responsibility of organizing, training, and  selecting postgraduates from the school to participate. The working group led by Professor Wu  Xianyi, the Deputy Dean of the School of Statistics, overcame difficulties during the epidemic,  actively promoted and organized three online expert lectures, and provided guidance for students  writing their papers and completing their final field reports, laying a solid foundation for the great results.
