Dominic Szambowski, President of the Swiss Hotel Management School, Gives a Lecture at the SEM

On the afternoon of March 23, Professor Dominic Szambowski, President of the Swiss Hotel Management School, and his six-member delegation visited SEM. Professor Du Zhenyu, Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Liu Xiaoyan, Project Director, Professor Gao Enxin, Deputy Director of the SEM, Professor Yang Yong, Vice Dean (presiding) of the School of Business Administration, Associate Professor Wu Wenzhi, Head of the Department of Tourism and Exhibition in the School of Business Administration, and Wu Yuqing, Manager of the International Affairs Office, met with the guests on the Zhongbei campus.


Du Zhenyu welcomed Dominic Szambowski and introduced the university, its philosophy, and its development strategy, as well as its major achievements in internationalization in recent years. He expressed his belief that Szambowski’s visit would promote exchange and understanding and explore the possibility of further developing a mutually beneficial and win-win relationship in the field of tourism.


Dominic Szambowski expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality of the SEM. He expressed his deep impression of the achievements of ECNU in recent years, especially in the realm of international development. He also shared the history of the Swiss Hotel Management School and its development and expressed his wish to cooperate with ECNU in the field of tourism.

Gao Enxin said that the visit of President Szambowski created a good opportunity for both sides to achieve complementary advantages and seek common development.


After the meeting, Dominic Szambowski gave a lecture on “Trends and Sustainable Value Creation in the Hotel Management Industry” to the undergraduate and graduate students of the Department of Tourism.  Dominic Szambowski, who observed tremendous changes in China since his last visit, analyzed the impact of new trends in the global business environment on the hotel management industry.
