The 2022 Young Scholars Online International Forum of East China Normal University—International Frontiers Sub-forum of Modern Statistics was held on April 10th.

The forum was attended by more than 120 well-known statisticians, data scientists, and researchers at home and abroad. The forum invited two acclaimed scientists in the field of statistics, Professors Liu Chuanhai and Wang Xiao of Purdue University, as well as Assistant Professor Ye Ting of the University of Washington, postdoctoral fellow Zeng Yicheng of the University of Toronto, and postdoctoral fellow Yuan Huiling of the University of Hong Kong, to give presentations on their academic experience and research field along with recent scientific research trends, and future development plans.This year, the forum covered frontier directions of current statistics, including empirical Bayesian methods in nonparametric regression, latent variable models and generative models, causal inference in the presence of multiple weak instrumental variables, multidimensional scaling method for high-dimensional data, and statistical inference of high-dimensional HAR-Itô models. The participating scholars had detailed exchanges and extensive discussions.
The forum attracted a large number of scholars from universities at home and abroad, promoted exchanges between well-known statisticians, data scientists, and research scholars, further enhanced the academic influence of the statistical discipline of East China Normal University, and promoted more aspiring outstanding young scientists to join and jointly promote the development of the statistical discipline of East China Normal University.
