The 2018 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), one of the four global world universities ranking systems, was released Monday. In the Chinese mainland, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Zhejiang University are in the top three, with scores of 95.3, 78.6 and 73.9 respectively, Shanghai Observer reported.
Shanghai claims 22 universities on the list; notably, 10 are in the top 100, coming in third after Beijing (24) and Jiangsu (10) among the Chinese mainland's top 500 universities.
Among them, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University ranked fourth and fifth respectively, the same as 2017. Tongji University ranked 11, with East China Normal University, East China University of Science and Technology, and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics following behind in the top 50.
Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine vaulted from 103th in 2017 to 83 this year.
