Statistical Theory and Related Fields (STARF), sponsored by ECNU, was recently granted a CN number by the National Press and Publication Administration and obtained a publishing license issued by Shanghai Press and Publication Administration.
The international edition of STARF was founded in 2017 and has published 9 issues with a total of 135 articles. It has received extensive attention among the international community and achieved some significant progress. STARF is the first English journal of pure statistics in China’s mainland, which has fulfilled the dream of Chinese statisticians for many generations. Pursuing the high standards of first-class international journals of statistics, STARF aims to publish significant and original articles in modern statistical theory and related fields in natural, economical, medical, and social sciences. The emphasis is to meet the needs of statistical applications and methodology development in a rapidly changing world, and to promote the use of statistics in quantitative studies and interdisciplinary investigations.
With the advent of the era of big data, statistical theory and its applications have been widely utilized in various fields of human activities, including natural sciences, technology and engineering, economics, biomedicine, and social sciences. On many occasions, statistical methods play an extremely vital role in solving important issues and achieving major breakthroughs.
Big Data has not only brought about great challenges to statisticians around the world, but also provided vast opportunities for them to develop new statistical theories and methods and find new applications in various fields.
At the same time, these applications have greatly promoted the development of statistical theories. On the other hand, the number, scope and geographic distribution of existing academic journals of statistics are far from meeting the demands of the rapid development of statistical theory and its applications. In May 2019, STARF was accepted for inclusion in Scopus by the independent Content Selection & Advisory Board (CSAB) and finally indexed by Scopus, the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature.
In November 2019, it was selected as a “High Starting Point New Journal” project of the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan.
The 2021 International Workshop on Statistical Theory and Related Fields will take place from December 10 to 12, 2021, in Shanghai, China. This workshop will focus on modern statistics methodologies and applications, which aims to enrich and promote international communications between statisticians. This international workshop will be hosted jointly by ECNU and the Chinese Association for Applied Statistics (CAAS), and undertaken by the School of Statistics of ECNU, Big Data Statistics Branch of CAAS, Editorial Office of STARF and MOE Key Lab of Advanced Theory and Applications of Statistics and Data Science. From January 1, 2022, all articles published in STARF will adopt the Open Access publishing option while the authors do not need to pay any Article Publishing Charge (APC). This will accelerate the dissemination of STARF and enhance its global influence and performance.
